Welcome To Episode 25 of Your Story.

Today we talk with Adam Daniel Mezei who for three years as a Canadian has been living in Prauge, Czech Republic. Working as a Journalist and a Podcaster mixing with the movers and shakers of Czech society and visiting international government individuals.

Adam is one of the unique individuals in a position in Czech society as a Czech speaking outsider who has a full understanding of the culture, history, challenges. He appreciates the differences between other cultures and Czech psyche including the conflicts that are inherent in that difference sharing some of these and the historical reasons for them.

Adam take us on an audio tour of Czech culture and history giving us a grounding in where the attitudes came from that are the personality traits of this society, helping us to understand the conflicts in the culture and why they exist.

As mentioned I recorded this episode within a couple of hours of arriving in order to have a fresh conversation with Adam. Over the next three days Adam spent a huge amount of time with me during the day showing me around Prague and long into the night in cafes and bars. We spent long hours talking about the histories and cultures of our home countries and reflecting on the histories of Europe and the cultural personalities that develop from that.

I could have recorded triple the information heard here in the many conversations that we shared while exploring the culture, social and language challengers of being a foreigner in the Czech Republic.

What we have here in this podcast episode is a quick overview that lead onto those conversations and I am personally  grateful for those continuing conversations.

Today we talk with Roco Menzel of Metroccolis who in along with his collaborator Stefan Wabner is a Mime artist performing as Metroccolis.
Now after 14 years developing the skill of mime Rocco is starting to achieve real international success, earning a living and well on the way to achieving the success that is his passion.

Rocco explains that as an nearly unknown art-form there is much more to producing art than seen on stage and it’s necessary to to spend 60% of the time as an office worker to dealing with agents and negotiating the stuff in the background.

We discuss the lifestyle of Berlin, the culture and where it is going and the fact that there is still a difference between East and West Berlin and how East Berlin is the vibrant place of growth and change.

Welcome To Episode 22 of Your Story Addendum.

Today we chat with Romy who while studying Social Services has continued to work and develop her childhood passion for Social Circus as a mechanism to enable children to develop and grow their communication skills, self worth and community interactions. She now has a huge opportunity to help develop the concept of Social Circus in the United States which will develop the concept even further.

Romy explains a little of the support that the German government gives to single parents to enable them to support both their studies and raising their children and how she has been able to develop with the aid of the support of the government.

We briefly discuss the new post Berlin Wall interactions between East and West Germans and a little of the inequity that is still present between East and West.

Today we talk with Juan Mann of Free Hugs fame. You have probably seen the video, if not here it is.

A runaway viral success that has lead onto things greater than anyone could have imagined.

It all started for me when I saw on Twitter that Richard Giles had gone to visit Juan and I thought well there is a story in that!

So I found his Welcome To My Home site and asked if I could drop in, seeing how I was in Sydney. Generously, he agreed.

We talk about the runaway success that the video has become for him and what it has lead on to, including appearing on Oprah and Andrew Dentons Enough Rope along with opportunities that you would never write into a business plan.

Surprisingly this has lead to him developing a career as a public speaker enabling him to continue to get his message out there and to motivate others to follow their passion. Continue Reading »
