Could Berlin return to these times 100 years later?

As a walk around the streets of Berlin and talk to people I realise that there are aspects of the culture that reminds me of Berlin’s most avant guard times in the 1920′s. In the area where I’m staying I notice some of the relaxed attitudes that are mentioned in this video.

In this audio I mention this image I’m seeing in the UBahn everywhere. Would your culture be nonplussed to have this as promotional material?

 

Welcome To Episode Sixteen of Your Story.

In 1979 I was training to become a Parachuting and Skydiving Instructor under the guidance of Claude Gillard. At the time Claude was president of the Australian Parachute Federation with already 20 years experence in the sport going back to it’s very beginning in Australia in 1959. Claude has seen the sport develop from an intentional form of aircraft bale out, to the development of the extreme activities with tandems, wing suits and high speed canopies that we have today.

Being involved in both the training, commercialisation, and administration of individual clubs and the development of the Australian Parachute Federation, Claude has seen parachuting from the very beginning as President of the APF for over 30 years.

Within all human activities there is are few rare people who see this activity from inception to maturity. Claude within parachuting and skydiving is one of these fortunate and rare individuals and within his experiences are the timeline of the development of Skydiving.

There are some specific people I know that I look forward to bringing to you on Your Story, Claude is up there as one of the most important to reflect on his life that I know.

Melbourne is often said to be a rather continental city which with its lanes, stone buildings and more temperate climate than Brisbane I would probable have to agree

Welcome To Episode One of Your Story Addendum.

Today is the start of Your Story Addendum a mini podcast episode of the things that I observe as I travel to Melbourne initially where I’ll practice this technique as preparation for heading to Europe in July.

These episodes are recorded as MP3′s and aren’t edited as I want to get them out easily with the minimum of fuss. They are intended to have the information that is additional to the main podcast that would take away from it because of the more personal nature of it, hence the name.

They in no way are to replace the main podcast episodes which will still be fully produced and is the main reason for having Your Story.

In the back ground things are happening. Here is one of them…

There is a lot of things that need to be done to get this site and the podcast up to speed but one thing that I’ve learnt is that I don’t have to get everything right immediately and that it’s alright to just make do until I get something new into place.

One of the things is to get all the different options that are now available onto the site so that you can follow me in my travels to Melbourne and Europe which are mentioned at the top of the site.

I want you to be able if you chose to read, look, listen and watch me as I travel and meet people.

I’m still putting some things into place but what I’m managing to have a crack at today is to post a piece of video courtesy of seesmic so I can chat directly to you and give you a brief summary of what I’m up to and have a bit of a practice at using the technology.

Welcome To Episode Ten of Your Story.

Thanks everyone for your support. This being Episode Ten I see it as a small milestone of what will hopefully be bigger things into the future.

One of the great pleasures of working in a variety of different fields over the years is that I’ve has the advantage to meet with some amazing people and as a group the people in the film industry I find particularly fascinating. They are generally creative, intelligent and have a view slightly skewed to the rest of the world.

Today we talk with Dave Goldie who is one of those free thinking individuals that we meet from time to time who comes from the film industry but additionally has the adventuring spirit .

I worked with Dave on Matrix 2&3 in Special Effects where I always enjoyed his intellect and perspective on life that prompted me to think about things that I hadn’t always considered.

We discuss his views on working in the film industry and an opportunity lost to make a political statement at the Sydney Olympics.

Dave is now preparing for his latest adventure to Kite Sled around Hudson Bay, Canada in April an adventure I’m looking forward to hearing about.

UPDATE 14 May 2009

Since recording this episode Dave has been to Canada twice. Last year on the way to Hudson bay they were involved in a serious car accident where Dave was smashed up quite bad but still managed to do a considerable amount of Kitesleding.

This years expedition has been far more successful with some brilliant adventures.
